RECRUITMENT AND APPLICATION PROCESS

Educational Objectives

The Department of Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering strives to provide the comprehensive education necessary to prepare students for successful, productive and rewarding careers in engineering for agricultural, food and/or biological systems.

We expect graduates of our program to effectively:

  • Apply the mathematical, physical, engineering, and biological principles needed to understand, analyze, and solve problems in food, agricultural, environmental, and/or biological systems;
  • Communicate via oral, written, and visual methods;
  • Accomplish tasks, as an individual and contributor, to multi-disciplinary teams;
  • Understand the social, environmental, safety, and economic impacts of their work in local and global contexts, and to perform in a professional and ethical manner; and
  • Be committed to enhancing knowledge and skills through continuing education.

    Curriculum Sample: Students majoring in biosystems and agricultural engineering take classes in:
    • Heat and mass transfer;
    • Engineering design;
    • Experimental methods;
    • Physical properties of biological materials;
    • Natural resources engineering; and
    • Instruments and controls.
