Robert Bosch corp. has developed this port-fuel-injection system for small, air-cooled, gasoline engines.  The system boosts horsepower by 10 to 15% and fuel economy by 15 to 20%.  The system relies on throttle angle and engine speed to determine fuel and ignition parameters.  It also uses a closed-loop system, with oxygen providing the feedback, to compensated for engine, changes, such as wear, as well as environmental factors such as altitude.  Designed for four-stroke engines in the 18 to 30-hp range, the injection system also improves cold and hot starting ability and meets all 1999 emission standards when equipped with a catalytic converter.  In will be introduced on a Kohler 26-horsepower engine for the lawn and garden market.
