2007 G. B. Gunlogson
Student Environmental Design Competitions

Welcome

A sincere thank you is in order for everyone that helped organize or participated in these two contests. The 2006 contests were an absolute success.

As was done in 2006, this year the Gunlogson Student Environmental Design Competition has two different contests with distinctively different formats. Schools can choose to enter either or both of the competition formats involving design and construction of environmentally-relevant engineered-systems.

The Fountain Wars competition will be offered as a challenging and entertaining competition for a broad range of students. It is intended to allow teams to compete with a modest investment of time and expense. Generally the rules (pump, reservoir, travel ability, bio-content, etc.) have remained the same. Technical tasks have changed.

The Open Format environmental design competition will be similar to what AGCO has traditionally provided for machinery/production agriculture students. That is, it is fundamentally a paper competition, though construction and testing of a working system will likely be worth extra points. AGCO will focus on designs directly relevant to machinery, production agriculture, food, and processing, while the Gunlogson event will focus on designs directly relevant to Environmental Quality, Biological Engineering, and the like.
